Last spring, I gave up High Fructose Corn Syrup for Lent. I didn't think it would be easy or simple by any means, but I became very adept at spotting the word 'High' in ingredient lists (think about it--what else contains that word in ingredient lists?) and I became very confused and concerned when I found it hiding in food that it shouldn't have been in, like almost every single brand and type of bread, hummus, canned beans, and Rice Krispies (R?TM?)--not to mention that chocolatey sandwich cookie I've always loved.
