This morning, it was all I could do to drive in to work. The world outside was soft and grey and dripping with a fine misty rain; such a perfect morning for a jaunt in the woods that I came very close to just parking my car on the side of the road and walking away.

But I didn't; I drove to work; I did the responsible thing. And tonight was choir practice, which I wouldn't have wanted to miss anyway, and tomorrow, work again.

One day soon, however, I will make that day happen. I will drive to my favorite spot, park my car, grab my walking stick, and vanish into the forest until I am chilled to the bone and muddy enough to be happy. And then, someday soon after that, I will do it again. And again, and again, and again.

I swear it.
