One thing that happened last week that I should mention (other than seeing the Beechmont Firestone under water--well, flooded, at least, now that was surreal) is the fact that I stopped at Goodwill on Tuesday while driving home in that terrible traffic.
And while there, I picked up four of The Dresden Files books--Book 2 and three others (out of order.) You might or might not recall that I bought Book 1 a while back, read it, and eh. It was okay. I also watched the TV show after the fact, and I liked it a lot. More than one person told me that the series really picks up after Book 4, but I wasn't willing to buy and read Books 2 and 3 to get to that point, if that were true.
But heck, if I go to Goodwill and find the paperback of Book 2 for 50 cents, of course I'm going to buy it. So I did, and I brought it home, and I really liked it. I liked it enough to spend quite a while online figuring out how to get the best price for the rest of the series that I didn't have. (Best price was Abebooks.com, with free shipping, from three different vendors, which was half the price I would have spent at Amazon used books.) So I have the remainder on their way except for the next book which isn't out yet, evidently. Since I have the rest in paperback, I will probably wait for the paperback of the next book.
But at least unless they get really annoying, I know what I'll be reading for the next month or so.
