I can't really believe it, but it's Ethan's 9th birthday tomorrow! And the party is today.
He requested a Captain America shield cake (again); that's easy enough, although I didn't use my 12" pan this time due to excessive cake leftovers last time. I used my two 9 1/2" pans and made the rest of the batter into cupcakes, which, shockingly, are just enough to spell out "Happy Birthday" so I don't actually have to write the entire thing on the cake itself.
I had only intended to stick the two layers together last night and icing this morning, since it was after 10pm by then, but then I did the sides, and then why not finish? So all I have to do this morning are touch-ups and the lettering.
