This is the time of year where I should get slightly sick of apples. Not only are they getting ripe, we have a bumper crop this year, and both Mom and I know the apple pie filling recipe by heart now.

Tonight we're doing Red Gala applesauce and pie filling, and Mutsu applesauce and pie filling. Tomorrow, who knows? There are Winesap apples ready, and others that are coming in. And I'm not even going to start on the Asian pears, of which Dad has at least twelve varieties with interesting names like Mishirasu, Ichiban, and Shinseiki.

The only thing, in fact, that we haven't had a good crop of this year, are the grapes. They didn't bear very well this year. Which isn't a bad thing, really... we have so much else!!
