And I forgot to mention that I cheated and ordered a live sourdough starter. Not that I won't probably attempt to make my own again; it did work last time, after all. But I thought that buying a piece of one that has been in production for 250 years kind of fit my idea of a cool thing, you know?

So I got my order last night, mixed it up, did the directions this morning, and decided to try something other than discarding half--I just split it in two and made it into two starters. Why not? I can always give one away once it's ready. We'll see if it works. :)

It smells quite good, actually.
