So Friday evening, Dad went to an auction that had a couple of musical instruments, one mandolin that went for too much and one bowed psaltry that didn't, along with a zither by the same maker. (Pigeon Forge String Instruments.)

The psaltry is made out of red oak, I think; the zither might be cherry? It's hard to tell. Both were made in the mid-90s, and are in good condition.

I got both for $30, total. Considering what I paid for my original bowed psaltry, it was a steal. I think I will probably keep both of them, but we'll see what I eventually decide.
