I turned off my heat last night, and the temperature this morning (in the house) is 62, which is normal for daytime, so that works. We'll see if I can leave it off! *crosses fingers*

Since I turned the thermostat down one measly degree this winter, I have noticed quite a savings in my gas bill. I think we had a fairly average winter temperature-wise, and my bill has not yet reached the $400+ a month that it usually does during the winter months.

Also, the duke energy website says the average home costs $249/month to heat during the winter; I am averaging $319, which, for what I am heating (above average) and due to the age of my home, that's not bad at all.
