I caved.
After looking at the weather forecast for the next couple of days, and after not seeing the sun at all today (by this time yesterday, the house was a comfy 65 degrees, it's 57 degrees now) and considering Ethan's here tonight and it's supposed to get down to 38 again, I turned on the heat.
I did everything I was supposed to: checked the chimney draft, the pilot light, and took everything off the radiators (and moved stuff I thought was too close.) The boiler came right on and is burning merrily away as it burns up my almost $500 credit at Cinergy. Ah well.
Hey, I only had nine more days until November. I guess I can strive for that next year.
