Basix by Staub Enameled Cast Iron Cookware

I've been crocheting for years, but I've never been able to do granny squares. In my opinion, they aren't as 'simple' as some people say they are.

So last night, I decided to sit down and learn how to do granny squares. (It was a "once and for all" thing.)

Here was my first attempt:

can you say "Use different yarn next time?"

Second attempt, cotton yarn. Getting better, but not right yet:

At least I could see what I did wrong here.

Third attempt, in progress, cotton yarn again:

Hmm, looks pretty good to me!

Okay, that's more like it!

Now maybe I can figure out how to make this scarf.
