Mabel's crate did not fit in the space below the shelves, but I managed to make it work with only a little wasted space. (I'm beginning to think that wasted space in that area is just a given, now.) My current dilemma is the table that was shoved under there--I don't need it, and my thought of having a fairly empty space with coats, shoes, my boots, and a place to sit down isn't resolving the way I thought it would.
Right now, I have the table where Mabel's crate was, but it's pretty useless there. And I still don't have room for the blue cabinet I wanted to put in the laundry room. I also have a displaced bench, and a displaced coatrack. Back to the drawing board.
