Prototype the second.This one has a shorter back and a wider front. Not completely on purpose, but I made it work. It's not completely finished, but my bobbin ran dry, so I have to re-thread.
I made the pattern just a little bit larger and it worked great. The only thing that didn't work was the black lining; I absolutely hate that fabric. It's stiff and really nice for lining, but it didn't cut well at all and the black brim was much too large.
The next one I make will be mine. Gray cotton canvas (from a pair of pants I bought that were too small) and purple cotton--very soft--lining. Or maybe I'll make one more prototype, just to make sure I've ironed out most of the problems.
