So You Want to be a Vampire is 42,015 so far tonight, and I'm not done yet. It's still early, after all, and for once I don't have to get up early tomorrow morning! The plot is growing by leaps and bounds. Hopefully everything that is happening will fit in somewhere, because I have no earthly idea where it's all going at the moment.
And I have no idea how long it will end up being, either. Which is okay with me, really. I just hope I can pull off the same sort of resurrection with TSS once I'm done with this, if I don't get stumped again.
I did take a break this evening to plant the cistern bed, since it's so nice outside. I didn't get everything planted, but I did plant four peanut plants, eight borage, three Paprika Alma peppers, three Bulgarian Carrot peppers, three Turkish Orange Eggplant, and three Black Eggplant. Since this bed will become the herb bed eventually, and I really only have basil, parsley, and some mint to plant this year, I decided to fill in with vegetables. Which is fine.
I dug up another potato, too, since the white potatoes are dying, and this one plant actually had big potatoes! Yay! So maybe I won't just have little ones after all. I have four plants that need to be dug up by the end of the weekend, and then all that will be left are the red potatoes. I'm also going to start planting the new potatoes this weekend; they need to be planted as soon as possible, since it's almost the end of June.
My sister Rebekah's birthday is tomorrow. She is 24. There's also another birthday tomorrow--my orange tree is 20. On June 23, 1987, I planted a handful of orange and lemon seeds. My orange tree grew from the only orange seed that sprouted. I got a lemon out of it too, but the lemon ended up dying from scale after it got infected. It lasted five years, though, I think.
My orange tree is a little taller than me now, but it's a bonsai orange tree, and doesn't grow in a very big container. When it was a baby I chopped off its taproot (I was really into bonsai back then too; the lemon tree was in a very small shallow pot) and the pot it's in now will probably last it until the pot breaks, because it's doing so well now that it's summertime.
I'm hoping that it doesn't get as much of a shock this year when I bring it inside, since I'm keeping it in the backyard this year instead of the front yard. I'll try to remember to take a picture of it tomorrow.
Unfortunately, it's only bloomed once. Maybe next year. Who knows? It's almost a point of pride to keep it alive now that it's survived 20 years. :)
