I have fans.
There aren't that many of them yet, but I actually have fans. The concept boggles my mind. I just had a very nice surprise--sketches of my characters in my inbox. What author wouldn't like those? Especially since they were very good sketches.
Maybe someday I'll stop getting teary-eyed when someone tells me they liked one of my books, but I doubt it. I think even if I do end up a best-selling author, I'll still half-not-believe people when they praise my work.
