The thing I don't like about the "What is your carbon footprint" sites is that there are no choices for those of us who garden. And also, they assume that if you live in a big house (mine is over 2500sf) that you probably built it, because average houses just weren't very big back then.
Well, guess what? That's not always the case. In fact, I bet there were more big houses (especially in farming communities) than small houses, because you had to put all those kids somewhere, after all.
I think that if you have a garden, or actively involve landscaping into lessening your carbon footprint (however that would work) then you should be able to take points off somewhere. Essentially, to get what they consider to be a "proper" score, you have to not drive, eat only local food, live in a small house, and never bathe or wash your clothes.
That is so not going to happen.
