So around 3am this morning, I woke up with a raging headache, enough sinus drippage to make my stomach nauseous, and spent the next two hours in the bathroom, waiting to die or puke, whichever came first.

Neither happened, but it was touch and go for a little while there. And around 5am, I crawled back into bed with a mixing bowl (okay, maybe not the best thing to potentially throw up in, in hindsight, but I was tired and desperate), fell asleep, and woke up again around 7:30am, still feeling rather ill.

(I probably should also mention that the mixing bowl was freezing cold, too. And I was hot. Even though it was 55 degrees last night, and my house was 66 this morning. I did take my temperature, but it only registered 97.1, and that wasn't right, so I'm not sure about that. It was 3am, so I could have read it wrong.)

I almost called Dad to say I wouldn't be at the auction, but I had to eat breakfast to take some ibuprofen for the headache, and by then, it was almost a "we'll see how I feel after I get dressed" sort of thing, and I ended up walking to the auction (seriously--right uptown) still feeling a bit under the weather.

I spent $24 at the auction for some plastic food-safe buckets (which will be great dough buckets) and a 6-qt (I think) heavy aluminum stockpot, without a lid. (I think I have a glass one that will fit it, though.) Dad bought one thing, an aluminum low rack thingy that will be great as a plant stand.

They sell my food buckets at Sam's for $20-something for three, I think; I got six plus another half dozen spare lids for $12. Not bad. The stockpot is nice and should be useful. I probably should have gotten one of the larger ones too, since I actually have a spare lid for a larger one already, but I didn't, and that's okay. They weren't fabulous, just nice.

The rest of the stuff, well, when the restaurant closed, they didn't take anything out of the fridges or freezers and they didn't repair the leaky roof, either. After seeing the kitchen, I wonder why they weren't shut down by the health department, honestly. I'm glad I only ate there twice.

By the time it was time to leave for the bridal shower for my cousin, I felt better, but I'd taken a Sudafed Sinus by then (which actually seemed to work a bit, a surprise, since Sudafed doesn't seem to work for me very often) and my Dad seems to think it's the ragweed that's in full pollen mode at the moment.

The bad thing about that is, though, is that I have never been allergic to anything. Ever. And I sure don't want to start now. In fact, I can pretty much pinpoint the time when I first started becoming more sensitive to certain things--I have to jump in the shower after mowing the grass or else everything stops up, for example--and that was after I had my first and only--hopefully--ear infection in February/March of 2006. After that, I don't really think my ears every fully healed, because I've been seriously having to pop them all winter ,spring, and summer of this year and it's not getting any better. (It was a sinus pressure/ear pressure headache last night.)

I do not want to be allergic to anything, especially ragweed. Ugh! This stinks. There has to be a way to get around this. I'm not going to turn on the hallway fan tonight, just to see if that might work.

Burlington is tomorrow. I'm planning to get my exercise. :)

Maybe it was food poisoning? I've been tracking my temperature when I wake up (7 AM) and it's routinely between 97.0 and 97.3 for the first part of my cycle, and 97.5 to 98.1 in the second part, so your temperature was probably fairly accurate--unless of course you know you were truly feverish, of course. But body temperature does go down during the night. I'm glad you're feeling better now!

It was definitely sinus related, but thanks for the temperature information! I thought that didn't seem right, but it does make sense that body temperature would go down during the night.

I'm glad I'm feeling better, too! At least it didn't happen on a work night. :)
