Further thoughts on the Dream House:

If ever there was a house that would have a secret passageway, this would be it. It's laid out very weirdly. And in the front, the actual steps to get to the front door are like five feet off the ground. What's on the other side of the five-foot tall front walls? There's no room there--at least not one we found.

Dad thinks there's another basement that no one has opened for two hundred years. (Okay, he didn't say that, but I think that if there is another basement, it hasn't been entered for at least a century.) But there definitely has to be something behind that wall. Unfortunately, I'm not likely to discover what that something is unless a miracle happens. Darn it all.

The actual trapdoor to the basement is in the bathroom. No kidding. It's a root cellar in truth, a small, square room with a water heater and not much else. Oh, and very steep stone stairs. ;)

All the windows have windowsills deep enough to sit on, too. At least a foot deep, maybe more.

Oh, and the house is on the National Historic Register, too. I just looked it up, and it is so there.

*sigh*
